Do you ever ask yourself why there is so much turmoil & strife in the world today? Just look at not only the political unrest but the social unrest in this country. We’ve seen sections of cities go up in flames. Peaceful demonstrations turn to violence with clashes between the so called left & right, or as many say liberals vs. conservatives. There have been wars between nations for thousands of years. Yet, now we’re seeing differences between political factions, races, religions & others coming to a head.
These things are exactly what Jesus said would happen in the last days just before his return. The disciples asked "“Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
And Jesus answered and said to them, “Take heed that no one deceives you. Formany will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.Fornation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:3-8.
All of this is due to the battle between the flesh & the spirit. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12.
Man is a fleshy being and has been waging war against himself for thousands of years. The real issue is not the battle of this flesh but a spiritual battle between the forces of good and evil. Each one has to come to grips with the battle of our flesh (earthly desires) and our spirit (Heavenly desires). We must decide if the flesh rules our lives or allow God’s spirit to rule our hearts.
Once we accept the Salvation of Jesus to rule our hearts then that fleshy battle rules our heart no longer. Oh, it can still be a struggle because the evil one will press our flesh even harder. But, the word of God becomes our shield of armor.
Now more than ever is the time for people to witness to others that the true battles we face are spiritual and eternal. Christ won this battle on the cross of Calvary for all of us. All each one of us has to do is accept his Salvation and Grace for eternal happiness.
